Canbet's price for Madrid to qualify at 1.36 is very generous imo, real only need a draw with one or less goals and they go to the next round, bayern has a lot of problems, besides their own fair share of injuries which balances real's, the team leaves a lot to be desired, with players out of form and tactics not working. In munich they did one unforced error after the other, without fan support i d say it's very very unlikely they either win or score 2 or more goals here. When the no. 1 favourite for the cl title is layed at 1.36, when they've managed a very favourable result away in the first leg (1-1) and are playing at home to not lose essentialy, i d say the odds are indeed generous. Worth a couple of units for sure.

Can someone explain to me (regardless of which side one likes) how it is possible that when Real was playing away they had to give somewhere between no handicap and 0/.5 goals. Now they play at home and believe it or not but the handicap is only .5 goal?!?!? (I just woke up and saw this on Indosoccer) Should Real not give about a goal extra compared to playing away?

Jack,
Initially when I read your post I thought: Oh God, this guy has gone inconsistent. He first liked Bayern claiming all sorts of public biases on Real's pricing and now he even chooses Real, but I agree looking at the prices for Real to qualify (1.40 at BetFair) is a bit generous.

I did believe that Real would give something on the edge of -0.75 and -1 and then I would take Bayern, but I see no mistake in the odds available. We've seen what Real is without Zidane, and now without Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos expect something similar, if not worse.

acw,

Why do you believe 1.40 is generous ? Only because all the books have 1.30 as the highest ?

Zidane is indispensible to Real Madrid, he is the foremost playmaker in the world and would be indispensible to any other team. Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos are obviously in the world top 10 in their respective positions, attacker and left back, probably even in the top 5, but they are not irreplacable. Raul Bravo, roberto Carlo's replacement, is the left back (or the first subtitute for this position) in the national team for spain, and there's just too much talent upfront to make up for ronaldo's recent out of form perfomances, raul, figo, zidane, beckham, gutti, and of course a player that should arguably be the raul of the coming years xavie portillo.

1.4 odds are not generous for their 0.1 difference with the rest of the bookmakers odds, they are generous per se. Madrid are by far the favourites in the primera, arguably the most competitive league in europe this year, while bayern is are lagging behind bremen, and not performing well at all according to anyone who's watched them, or at least not according to their team's talent, in a championship in decline (see how the german teams have faired in uefa and cl.). ReaL are the cl favourites by everyone's admission, they are playing at bernabeou in front of home fans, and they are playing essentialy to not lose (except of course for a 2-2 draw and above.) I haven't done any research recently, but if i remember well from the last time i checked they haven't lost at home in the knock out stages of the cl in a long, long time, and they've very seldomly not won either. With all these considered wouldn't you say that 1.4 is a bit generous, i am not saying it's a huge overlay, i am saying it's generous worthwhile a bet.

Yeah but if you have seen the game in munich, Bayern was playing really very well : very fast, very strong one on one, good combinations excellent movement without the ball. And Real looked like the most arrogant sob I have seen in a long time on a footballfield. They got a huge break with kahn.
I bought them to advance for 1.4 before the game in munich and I am thinking very hard about buying back. That was a bad bet, but bayern looked really bad before real.

well, opinions differ boys, i like that, it's a good thing for both soccer and betting, it furthers discussion.

"Yeah but if you have seen the game in munich, Bayern was playing really very well : very fast, very strong one on one, good combinations excellent movement without the ball."

Fast yes, stong yes, SOME good combinations and decent movement without the ball.
But many unforced errors, actually it's been a long time since i watched a team with so many unforced errors in cl level. And very innefective in their last one or two passes and shots. And, which is really important too, they didn't seem to have the extra weight or the morale to win madrid after all, of course madrid where indeed lucky to escape with the draw but bayern didn't seem they believed they could win, and esp. after real goal they seemed very tired and completely demoralised, a vey unusual behaviour for a german team, esp. bayern.

We 'll just have to wait and see now, wont we.

just remember one thing....bayern has always played like that and had success, whenever you thought they were down they made it....i like their chances of advancing today!

PS. Watch for my boy Hasan to score the game winner!

real wasn't anything to write home about, and carlo's absence offensively was more than evident, on the other hand, one can say that the absences of ronaldo and carlos did work in their favour in terms of their defensive statous, as witnessed by bayerns almost zero chances in the second half (after they d thrown two great chances to score in first half overtime (see my point about not being able to finish off their chances)), bayern once again demonstrated some characteristic lack of conviction on being able to overcome real, and a few of the unforced errors too. Real did what they had to do, no more no less, and besides those crucial overtime first half minutes, i never, at any point in the game, felt that bayern had what it takes go through.

ballack played pretty bad by his standards.
But real wasnt playing magic football neither.
Zidane performed excellent and Casias is a hell of goalkeeper.
You can say that kahn ****ed up again.
Anyway i made a nickle but i am locking forward going against real against a quality opponent with good odds.

em, sorry tomy i agree with your rant here, but everything you say i ve already mentioned them, so unless you are on something, i can't see why you are quoting me and retorting.

"ballack played pretty bad by his standards." did i say he played well?

"But real wasnt playing magic football neither." i said "real wasn't anything to write home about"

"Zidane performed excellent and Casias is a hell of goalkeeper." i said "zidane is indispensible to Real Madrid, he is the foremost playmaker in the world and would be indispensible to any other team."

"You can say that kahn ****ed up again." i didn't. (?!?!?!)

"Anyway i made a nickle but i am locking forward going against real against a quality opponent with good odds." good for you and fair enough but i think madrid coach or management are the ones you should be directing your comments to.

Sorry this was not meant as a critic of your post, just the way I saw the game.
"You can say that..." is a standard phrase, at least I thought it is, sorry english is not my first tongue.
The Kahn remark was about the goal in Madrid, because he was taking a few steps and than stopped. (not a huge mistake by any means but..)
The only new thing I said was that i am looking forward to go against real.
I will try to formulate clearer in the future.
